Video Poker is a favored game that can be played in casinos throughout the globe, or in your house on your personal computer, using an Internet account. The rules are absolutely simple and involve the player trying to achieve the best assemblage of cards as you can in order to come away with cash. On this account it is much the same as a classic game of poker, without the interaction with any other players. Of course, methods employed during a physical game of poker, such as tricking, will be useless here.

The game of Electronic Poker begins when the gambler puts credits (whether it’s tokens, credit slips or cash) into the machine and presses the draw button. A hand of five cards will then be "handed out" on the video screen.

The Electronic Poker machine also has buttons with ‘hold’ printed on them, and players should now pick which cards to keep and which to discard. For the cards the player wishes to keep, the ‘hold’ buttons must be pressed so that they light up. The player can choose to keep any number of cards they want, whether it’s all or none.

After the player has chosen which cards he or she wishes to retain, they should press ‘draw’, which will mean that any new cards will be dealt if desired. The round is now completed, with the Electronic Poker machine analyzing the cards to see if it is the same as any of the winning hands printed on the pay out schedule.

Typically, the lowest succeeding hand on a Video Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the prize money growing for each and every better hand. A common list of winning hands starts with jacks or better, moving on to two pairs, 3 of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, four of a kinds, straight flushes and last but not least royal flushes. It goes without saying that the payment schedule can range from game to game, so that discerning players are able to choose the most beneficial game every time.

Once the first round has completed, the player can either decide to remain on in an attempt to increase their winnings, or press the ‘collect’ button to retrieve any credits that they may have won. Additionally, a few versions of the game give the player a chance to increase their profits, in which instance another round is played. There are also variations between individual machines, with some decks of cards including wild cards and other differing aspects to increase playability.
